✅ Review: Cinnamon Brown Sugar Soft-Baked Oatmeal Squares from Nature Valley

It took me a little while to buy these because I had a sneaky suspicion I knew what I was getting. Turns out I was only sort-of right. Check out these Cinnamon Brown Sugar Soft-Baked Oatmeal Squares from Nature Valley with me.

Get up and get moving with this morning snack. Cinnamon and rich brown sugar perfectly balance the soft-baked, hearty whole grain oats.

Ingredients: Whole Grain Oats, Whole Wheat Flour, Brown Sugar, Canola Oil, Tapioca Syrup, Sugar, Vegetable Glycerin, Molasses Flavored Coating (sugar, palm kernel oil, reduced minerals whey, skim milk, molasses, maltodextrin, palm oil, soy lecithin, natural flavor), Chicory Root Extract, Egg Yolk, Raisin Juice Concentrate, Water, Baking Soda, Gum Arabic, Egg White, Salt, Cinnamon, Natural Flavor.

To start with these things are disappointingly small, reminding me very much of the Fiber One Lemon Drizzle bar I’ve tried. I have to admit that I’d hoped they’d be a little bigger.

Opening the pack and I get an instant hit of cinnamon and brown sugar – so far so accurate.

Texture wise, this is like an under baked soft oatmeal cookie, complete with the texture of little sugar crystals on top. This was the bit I’d really gotten wrong from looking at the packet. I’d expected something more like a soft cake – albeit an oaty one. Instead the oats in here are quite firm and the texture only seems cakey at the edges.

I’d anticipated lots of cinnamon and lots of sugar, both of which are here in spades.

It’s definitely a bit too sweet for me, but if you like eating cinnamon brown sugar and love the texture of oats, then this will certainly work for you.

Think of it like a barely-baked sugary flapjack mixture and you’re basically there.
