The White Chocolate Cookie Carb Killa bar from Grenade, bought on Amazon!
This is a pretty simple bar to explain, so it won’t take me long.
Here’s the ingredients list: White Chocolate (Maltitol, Cacao Fat, Dry Whole Milk, Lecithin, Vanilla Powder), Protein Blend (Calcium Caseinate, Milk Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate), Polydextrose, Gelatin, Glycerin, Soy Protein Isolate, Soybean Oil, Palm Oil, Xylitol, Sucralose, Nonfat Dry Milk, Breakfast Cocoa, Dry Cream, Tapioca Starch, Salt, Citric Acid Esters of Mono-and Diglycerides, Vanilla Powder, Natural Flavors, Sunflower Oil, Colored with Beta Carotene, Colored with Titanium Dioxide.
Yes, it contains maltitol. Watch out if you’re sensitive to the ingredient!
One interesting snippet from the American website says:
All palm oil used in Grenade products is certified as sustainble by the Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).
So… If you took a Milky Bar and turned it into a protein bar, it would probably taste a lot like this.
There’s a touch of sweetener flavour at the end, but it’s not strong or generally all that noticeable. It doesn’t put me off the bar in the slightest.
As you tend to find with the Carb Killa range, there’s a very slight powdery quality to the texture. However it’s so slight (especially compared to other protein bars), that I’m not bothered by it.
There are some nice textural differences here too, from the fudgy base, to a hint of caramel stickyness and the little crunchy ‘cookie’ bits. You’ll also spot some protein crunchy bits in the base itself. At least I assume they’re protein-based crunchy bits.
If you’re a white chocolate lover and you’re looking for a protein bar, I think you’ll like this one. It’s sweet, creamy and vanilla forward. I like it!
