Product Review: Mousse Zitrone from Dr. Oetker in Germany - a Lemon Mousse from the chiller cabinet! |

Mousse Zitrone from Dr. Oetker – Yet another foray into reviewing chilled dessert products in Germany!

This Lemon Mousse isn’t quite as mentally challenging as their Red Wine offering… (And yes, if you missed it earlier, that link will take you directly to the Red Wine Mousse review!)

Mousse Lemon by Dr. Oetker is a wonderfully creamy mousse, which makes connoisseur hearts beat faster! A fruity variant of the Italian classic with refreshing lemon juice. (without alcohol) | Dr. Oetker

This dessert is fluffy, light and airy – which was entirely expected, if I’m honest. That’s the point of a mousse, after all!

The flavour surprised me a little though, given the “punch you in the face” flavouring of the Red Wine version. The Lemon Mousse is far more subtle and gentle, with a light lemony taste. Despite the 5.6% lemon juice involved, it’s not tart or overpowering, leaving just a gentle zing at the back of the tongue.

It’s a surprisingly creamy offering too, especially considering that it doesn’t actually contain cream. Sorry vegetarians, gelatin is used in this one!

I liked it enough and would consider buying it again, but I’m actually rather looking forward to trying the Chocolate version net time!

So funny, I remember seeing the red wine version and thinking to myself “why?”… This sounds pleasant enough though!

The red wine version is most definitely a “why Germany, why?!” product! 😂
