Reviewing the new Limited Edition Lemon Drizzle Bar from Nakd. It’s healthy cake!
Nakd. You’ve nailed it. Absolutely, properly, stunningly, nailed it.
Be warned, reader. There be pictures ahead! (Read that in a piratey voice, if you don’t mind. It works better. Stick an ‘arrggh’ on the end if you feel like it.)
Strong words, eh? They are! But where do I begin? Let’s start with what Nakd say about this gorgeous Lemon Drizzle bar themselves.
Ta dah… introducing a new great British dessert favourite to our limited edition family! This one is a real treat, bursting with spritely zesty flavours in a beautifully crispy and cake-like consistency, it’s the perfect snack to sink your teeth into in order to dazzle your taste buds! | Nakd
Alright, let’s get to it…
On opening the pack I was greeted with a zingy, zesty, lemony sweet scent. Exactly like Lemon Drizzle cake! I was actually surprised at the colour of the bar itself – it was light! Dare I say it? Just like the colour of the golden crust on a Lemon Drizzle cake…
Things were going well.
The bar itself is soft, barely sticky and has an almost fudge-like texture when breaking it into bite sized pieces. I had to, otherwise it would have been gone in seconds. This way, it lasted longer…
It had a soft, cakey texture in the mouth. Almost melt in the mouth type stuff, except for at the end you’re left with a little bit of what felt and just about tasted like desiccated coconut in my teeth. Could it be? Was this the secret?
Turn the packet over and… yes! Coconut comes in at 10% It works wonderfully in this bar – it’s a little secret cake ninja of an ingredient. Keeping everything light and cakey, without being an overriding flavour. The star here is, without a doubt, the lemon. It comes through as bright, zingy and thoroughly delicious.
You can buy these limited edition Lemon Drizzle bars here at Nakd’s website or find them in Asda, where I purchased mine for 75p per bar. They’re 1 of your 5 a day and 100% Vegan as well as gluten, wheat and dairy free! As long as you’re good with nuts and lemon, get them while you can!
And no, I’m not employed or sponsored by Nakd for this post. I just really think it’s a great tasting bar.
