Japanese snacks ahead! I’m starting with this really cute pack of Happy Polar Bear Paw Gummies.
I bought all the products being reviewed this week from TofuCute.com – It’s my default Japanese snack shop, so that probably comes as no surprise.
These small paw-shaped gummy treats are soft, chewy and bursting full of classic Japanese ‘white soda’ flavour, which tastes a lot like original flavour Ramune.
Now I don’t know what Ramune tastes like, so I’m heading in blind. “White soda” flavour also means absolutely nothing to me.
So what did I find in the pack? 8 paw shaped sweets in a very light, pale blue opaque sort of colour. They’re soft and jelly like, with a sweet and interesting flavour that reminds me a little of blue bubblegum with cream soda.
The outer jelly is a firmer texture than the insides, which seem softer in comparison. That filling leaves me with a very light, extremely mild cooling sort of sensation. It’s a little odd but quite addictive.
I really like these! They’re fun – and though there’s only a handful of sweets in the packet, the bag is resealable. I definitely think these would be fun for kids to try. I mean, that’s probably the target market anyway, right?
For the curious, ingredients listed on the back in English are: Syrup, sugar, gelatin, vegetable oil, oblate powder (soybean), sorbitol, acidulant, perfume, gelling agent (pectin), brightener, emulsifier (soybean), colouring agent (gardenia).
