NOMO. No, I’m not shouting at you – that’s the brand name. “No Missing Out” – that’s the aim of the game with these dairy, gluten, egg and nut free chocolate bars. So what’s the Fruit & Crunch Choc Bar like?
The perfect combination of smooth creamy vegan choc with crunchy crispy pieces and juicy raisins. It’s a party in a bar and everyone’s invited!
Ingredients: Sugar, cocoa butter, rice powder (dried rice syrup, rice starch, rice flour), raisins, cocoa mass, inulin, rice flour, shea oil, emulsifier (sunflower lecithin), raising agent (sodium bicarbonate), salt, flavourings, sunflower oil.
First impressions, it looks great. I can clearly see absolutely loads of crispy bits lining the bottom of the bar, with the top obviously filled with big raisins.
This chocolate is made with rice powder, but it doesn’t seem to have the powdery finish these chocolates can sometimes have. It’s not a bar that’s made for sitting on your tongue and melting. This is a munch-your-way-through-it bar.
Now I really love fruit and nut chocolate. I also absolutely love raisins in a chocolate bar, so I was pretty keen to try this.
At first, the flavour of the chocolate made me think of calendar chocolate. The more I ate though, the more I got into it. Plus the bar is absolutely packed with mix ins, so it’s more than just a chocolate being a chocolate.
The taste of the bar is good. The chocolate here lacks the sort of richness that only seems to come from milk, but I didn’t feel like I was missing it.
I didn’t think it was a particularly strongly flavoured chocolate. It’s sweet and mild, working well to form a base for all those delightfully crispy bits. The raisins work well here too, they’re good and fat and squishy. Just how I like my raisins.
Overall then, I enjoyed this and would happily pick it up again. It’s one for those who really wish they could have a fruit and nut bar, but can’t. Then because it’s free from dairy, gluten, egg and nuts, so many more people can give it a try. I’m definitely in favour of tasty snacks that can be enjoyed by all. Thumbs up!
