It’s not new, it’s not even original or local to Germany – but I figured, “what the hell, give it a go”. I mean, they’ve been out since 2013 and I still hadn’t tried these Nestlé After Eight desserts yet!
You’d think that’d be some sort of record, but actually… in the UK there’s just so much choice, I never feel the need to go near products like this. As that’s most certainly not the case in Germany, here we are.
As you might have guessed, it’s modelled on the ever-Christmas-popular After Eight mint chocolates. They’re thin squares of darker chocolate with a peppermint cream filling (though I’m sure you all know that).

So this dessert from Nestlé offers little by way of surprise. It’s really strong in the mint department – you know, the smack you in the face “HI I’M AN AFTER EIGHT OH MY GOD I’M SO PEPPERMINTY” kinda way.
And that’s good because Nestlé haven’t muted the minty flavour in the slightest.
It’s definitely a mass processed thing though – check out the texture on the spoon! It’s a suspiciously, bizarrely thick pudding but thankfully that’s exactly what I expected from this dessert. I imagined a sweet and smooth mixture of plain chocolate and strong peppermint flavours, which is what it delivers.
The After Eight Mint Chocolate Dessert from Nestlé is exactly as it sounds.
