A new cinnamon flavoured breakfast cereal? Be still my heart! (Or should that be stomach?)
Nestlé’s Cini Minis Knusper-Müsli breakfast cereal is described as “cereal clusters with whole grain oat flakes, the popular Cini Minis cinnamon flavor and 51% whole grain”. So I’m getting oats and cinnamon? Yes! Marvel at my restraint at waiting until I got these home AND it was breakfast time before trying them. When you’re done being amazed, there’s another picture of this glorious hybrid of oaty clusters and Cini Minis below…
In the UK we’re more familiar with the the base cereal being called Curiously Cinnamon and it’s that long since I’ve had any, I couldn’t tell you if there were any striking differences between the two products. What I can tell you is that there’s the most amazing waft of cinnamon on opening the packet. Some settling did occur so the large, light and crispy clusters were sitting at the top of the bag with the little destroyed bits underneath, looking like a roughly 50/50 split.
The Cini Minis granola is light, crunchy and sweet. As it’s not a traditional granola, there’s no difficulty in chewing or breaking through the pieces. The larger clusters are a mixture of oats, puffed rice and standard Cini Minis, with a nice amount of the latter strewn through the bag. They stay surprisingly crispy despite being submerged in milk for quite a decent length of time (review note writing can be a bit of a test for breakfast cereals!) and the cinnamon flavour is gorgeous. There’s no doubting what this is supposed to taste of!
Now there’s no tricking myself that this is a ‘healthy’ choice. It isn’t. There’s 10.1g sugar per 45g portion and it doesn’t keep me full for that long…
But it’s really, really tasty. So tasty I’m eating it dry as I write this… for, uh… research purposes. You believe me, right?Anyway, if you’re a cinnamon fan and you can get your hands on a pack of this Cini Minis Knusper-Müsli, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try!
