If the packet and artwork style look familiar, that’s because Dove in America is basically Galaxy from the UK. Something you can’t get in the UK though are these chocolate covered and sea salt dusted cashew nuts – and that’s a shame.
Ingredients: Milk Chocolate (Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Skim Milk, Chocolate, Milkfat, Lactose, Soy Lecithin, Artificial Flavor), Cashews, Sea Salt, Sugar, Safflower Oil, Salt, Corn Syrup, Maltodextrin.
First impressions get a thumbs up!
The nuts are sizeable and thickly coated in a soft milk chocolate. There’s no snap to the coating – by which I mean it doesn’t have a crisp texture. You can bite these in half without worrying that the chocolate will shell away.
As for the taste of the chocolate? Well, if you’ve had Galaxy in the UK then you’re going to recognise the same distinctive flavour here. Honestly, I’m pleased about that because I do actually like the taste of Galaxy.
Instead of going for salt crystals which could easily overwhelm something like this, Dove have used a powder-soft uniform dusting of some sort of processed salt. It actually works really nicely. As an added bonus, the texture doesn’t have any awkward salted crunch to it.
Now there aren’t many of these in a packet, but I think they’re rather good – so it’s probably wise to not pass me a larger bag. They’re far too easy to eat!
Dove’s Chocolate Coated Cashews cost $ for a slim pack. As cashews aren’t the cheapest nut around, I think these are worth the price tag.
Dove also produce Dark Chocolate Coated Almonds dusted with Cinnamon and Dark Chocolate Cashews dusted with Cocoa. The range extends to Roasted Almonds, Cranberries, Blueberries and Cherries coated in chocolate too.
