Review: Bakewell Tart Bar from Nakd

Here’s another one from Nakd, brought back in the suitcase from my February trip to England. It’s the Bakewell Tart bar. 

Unless you’re new here (and if you are, HI! Glad to have you around!) you’ll know I’m a bit of a Nakd fan. My Lemon Drizzle review was really more of a sales pitch on Nakd’s behalf.

I’ll let Nakd sell you on this one themselves:

We have taken the classic dessert and given it the Nakd treatment, resulting in a snack bar that’s totally tasty and good for you too!  This Bakewell Tart bar features the sweet, deep tang of dates and raisins combined with a hint of shortcrust, rounded off with a moist and nutty texture.  Sounds good right?  Well it is!  Perfect with a cup of tea, a snack between meals or for when you simply fancy a treat, grab yourself a Bakewell Tart bar and snack yourself happy! | Nakd

There are many things to love about Nakd products. This one is free from gluten, wheat and dairy. It’s cold-pressed with no added sugar or syrups. It’s 1 of your 5 a day. It’s 100% vegan. It contains Dates, Cashews, Raisins and a hint of natural flavouring. It cost me 75p.

Unless you and nuts are bitter enemies, why wouldn’t you?

The bar is dark, soft and smells like almonds. It’s got the usual pleasing smooshed together dried fruit texture of a Nakd bar, speckled with little bits of cashew nut. And… IT TASTES LIKE BAKEWELL TART. It really does. The proper kind, not the ‘topped with an inch of icing’ Mr. Kipling kind. Which are also good, but in a completely different way.

This Bakewell Tart bar has a nicely rounded frangipane marzipanny taste with a fruity underbelly. To be honest with you, I didn’t get the ‘hint of shortcrust’ mentioned in Nakd’s online description but I’m not in the slightest bit bothered. To me, the pastry is just a way to transport lovely almondy jammyness to my mouth.

It was a delicious morning treat that made me very happy to eat it. Then very sad that my cupboard is now empty of Nakd things.  I’d love to know your favourite from the Nakd range! Drop a comment below!
