In a week that’s included Shrove Tuesday (Pancakes), St. David’s Day (Welsh Cakes) and World Book Day (CerealReader), social media has been fluttering by at quite a pace. Here’s a few things that I’ve caught this week – Why not share your bits of news and must-see blog posts in the comments below!

Animal Welfare

  • Following last weeks news on free-range egg laying hens being kept inside, some re-labeling via stickers will be going on across all commercial boxes of free-range eggs to keep the market level for all UK farmers. | BBC News
  • Asda has launched a line of free range milk. Unless you’re a purchaser from local farms or of Organic milk, can you really be certain that the cows have lived some of their life outside? | The Guardian
  • And if you want a refresher course on what the ‘free range’ label actually means, the Guardian has helpfully come to the rescue! | The Guardian
  • Whilst I’m at it, let’s carry on with good animal welfare becoming tasty food with Delicious Magazine’s article on pasture-fed beef. | Delicious

  • A new gluten free cocktail gummy range from Sugar Sin will be hitting the Waitrose shelves soon. I’ve got to admit, I’m interested in the concept of cocktail chewy sweets – I have a box of Smith & Sinclair Rum pastilles sat in my snack cupboard, waiting to be photographed and reviewed!
