Another week rolls by, another set of foodie news, reviews and special mentions hit the blog in this week’s round up!

Products & News

  • Pink Panther Ice Cream | Now I know what you’re thinking – you’re thinking that there’s not enough outrageously pink food in your house. That the brightest, pinkest of foods absolutely needs to be eaten. Eaten by you. Well, wait no longer – the Pink Panther Ice Cream Cones have arrived! | FDIN
  • Banana Jelly Babies | Well, okay… There’s a mixture. It’s Mango, Banana and Pineapple flavours that feature in the new Jelly Babies Tropical bags. Will you be giving them a go? | FDIN
  • Dairy Milk Tiffin Returns | It’s back. Permanently. Is this good news? I’ve never tried it myself but as it’s just biscuit and raisins, I could well imagine it’s one of those ‘basic, home comfort’ style bars. | FDIN
  • Kit Kat Japan Expands | Ahhhh Japan, land of the crazy KitKats we all want to try. Well, demand is so great from foreign tourists that they’re opening a second factory to help deal with demand! I’d love to see some new varieties and inventive flavourings hit the European market. They’re obviously capable of it… Can I politely suggest some sort of Pumpkin Pie one, please? #AutumnLover | FoodBev

Reviews

  • Great British Biscotti Co. | You think biscotti, you think sweet. The Great British Biscotti Co. however are offering some amazing sounding savoury nibbles, with at least two of the range winning a Great Taste award! Now if that doesn’t speak highly enough, check out what Nibs thought of ’em! | Nibbles’n’Scribbles
  • Choc Affair Peach & Raspberry White Chocolate | I love York. It’s the place I picked to get married and is my most visit spot in England. Not only is it home to some great bars, fabulous eateries and tons of history… it’s got Choc Affair. Come take a look at this brilliant sounding fruity chocolate bar! | Amy Seeks New Treats
  • Sunbites, Honey Glazed Barbecue | Alright, there’s actually two flavours hitting this review post – but it’s the Honey Glazed Barbecue rather than Tomato & Mozzarella that interests me most. Which would you pick? | Grocery Gems
  • Perfectly Buttery Peanutty Cups | I keep on eyeing The Grown Up Chocolate Company products when I go in one of my local supermarkets. They’re down to two different kinds of chocolate on the shelf, so I’ve a feeling we won’t be seeing any more of them. The price point feels a little harsh… but then I read a review like this and I have to wonder if I’m missing out. | Lot-o-Choc

Special Mentions

  • Maverick Baking Does Berlin | So whether you’re in Germany or not, planning a visit to Berlin or not… you should check out all the gorgeous food in this post! I’ve been to Berlin myself (so expect to see a post on that popping up in the next couple of weeks!) but I really didn’t do much of any food sampling. Our style of touristing often leads to: Walk until feet die, don’t stop for big meals. I think I missed out on Spreegold! It’s a lovely read (and you’ll get an eyefull of Currywurst), give it a go! | Maverick Baking
  • 10 Ways Recipes Are Undermining Your Cooking | I’m cheating a little with this one, as it was posted on the 8th… but I really enjoyed the read and think it’s a worthwhile one. It’s all about how recipes get overspecific and complicated, seeming unattainable and just simply put people off. I agree thoroughly – cooking is a personal, intuative thing. Who cares if a dish has a bit more spice, a bit more onion or a little less mushroom? The whole point is putting together a bunch of things that you’re going to enjoy eating. Everything else is just inspiration. | The Guardian
  • Can Learning a Second Language Destroy Your Native Tongue | If you want to know which aspect of Germany language pushes Oh God My Wife Is German out of his “warm, linguistic comfort zone and into a cold, dark alley full of brain molesters where I must passively accept the fact that “running away” is not an option” – read on! | Oh God My Wife Is German
  • All Roads Lead to Neuschwanstein | Have a read of Nic’s fun introduction to Neuschwanstein, the famous Disney castle. If you’d like to know a bit more, don’t forget there’s a couple of posts on this blog under Explore: Hohenschwangau | 40 Percent German
