Settle in for this week’s round of up food news, snack reviews and a handful of foodie and Germany related Special Mentions.

Products & News

  • Fentimans in a Can | Until now, Fentimans has always been a glass bottled drink. Whilst attractive and catering to the upmarket feel of the product line, it does somewhat limit their transportability and use. Extending into a canned range makes perfect sense – and I hope to find the Sparkling Line and Jasmine at some point too! | Food Bev
  • Halloween Sweets | As we’re heading into the second part of the year, details about the Halloween limited editions are emerging. I’m always a little disappointed with the UK NPD for this time of year, as America seems to get much more variety. We mostly just get repackaged versions of existing products – though with some wonderful exceptions. By the way, Darkside Skittles will be returning this year… | Talking Retail
  • Chlorinated Chicken | … coming soon to a supermarket near you? | The Grocer
  • Teavana Stores Closing | This is a bit of news from America, with Starbucks having decided to call time on their chain of Teavana tea stores. Yes, all 379 of them. If you happen to be a fan of their brand of tea, it’s a good idea to stock up whilst you can! | Food and Wine
  • Gluten Free Baking Mixes | If you’re in need of Gluten Free options, Waitrose will be stocking a range of Helen’s Gluten Free Baking Mix products. The range includes bread, scones and pastry mixes! Good news for allergy sufferers that like a helping hand in the baking department. | FDIN

  • Cinnamon Toast Crunch Bites | Hailing from America, this review comes to us by way of both a microwave and an oven. For science. Let’s be honest, should any product be announced that’s supposed to be Cinnamon anything, I’m all eyes, ears and tastebuds. So how did these do? | Snack Cellar
  • Mrs Freshley’s Oatmeal Creme Pie | And now we’re heading into another cinnamony American product, only this one IS available in the UK! See how I made that link? So smooth… | Amy Seeks New Treats
  • Unicorn Froot Loops | Fairly recently I posted a picture of the German Limited Edition release Unicorn Froot Loops to my Insta Story. I wasn’t in the mood for wasting money on a box of cereal I really wasn’t interested in – but I think some of my readers here might like to have a look! | Cerealously | deCereal
  • Green KitKat | Alright, we all know that’s not its official name – but seeing is believing! Take a look at this ever so cute looking Matcha KitKat. | Foodstuff Finds

Special Mentions

  • What Is The Rundfunkbeitrag and Why Do I Have To Pay It? | So when is a tax not a tax, but still really a tax? Well, when it comes to Germany, it’s when it’s the Rundfunkbeitrag! | Live Work Germany
  • 6 Months Back | Are you dealing with repatriation? Maybe moving from Germany back to the UK? Emma shares a few observations, touching on things she’s missing and ‘strange’ new obsessions that life in Germany instilled. Most importantly though, if you’re going through a similar experience right now, it’s good to know you’re not alone… | A Bavarian Sojourn
  • How To Do A Weekly Meal Plan | I’ve been meal planning for years – without it I’d be a hopeless cause in a supermarket, emerging only with snacks and a random array of cheeses. Try as we might, it’s probably best not to live off an assortment of dairy products. If the idea seems a little difficult or you’re lacking inspiration, take a look at this… | All That I’m Eating
  • Understanding Fermented Foods | If you’ve got ten minutes spare, have a read of this discussion around fermented foods and what they do for us. | The Guardian

    Hey Linds!

Thanks for the mentioning! I appreciate it a lot! 🙂

Just so you know: Thanks to you i discovered quite the interesting coincidence in my blogs name xD
“deCereal” is actually supposed to be a combination of “dessert” and “cereal”… never realized it can also stand for “DE Cereal” as in “German Cereal” xD

btw your photos in your reviews look amazing! love them! 🙂

Hiya! You’re very welcome – and I’m so sorry for misreading your blogs name! I’ve edited the post to “deCereal” but I’m glad you found my misunderstanding funny. 😊 Thanks so much for dropping by and the lovely compliment too. I’m looking forward to seeing more from your blog! 😃

        Hey Linds! No worries!
As i wrote i never realized how obvious “DE Cereal” as name for a german blog about cereals is and how it’s way closer and waaaaaaay more obvious than “deCereal as in dessert cereal” xD
So thanks for editing and correcting the name and also big thanks for your nice compliment! 🙂
